About Edgewater MD…

Edgewater, Maryland, has a lot to offer its residents. This area boasts numerous attractions and activities for those who call it home. Edgewater is a suburb of Annapolis, and is located on the south side of the tidal South River. Throughout the years, its population has steadily increased, due in large part to its retail development. Today, Edgewater is home to roughly 9,000 residents, with plentiful homes still ready to buy.

Due to its close proximity to the Chesapeake Bay, those who live in Edgewater can easily enjoy the water and all that it has to offer. Getting to and from the sports and entertainment venues of both Baltimore and Washington, D.C. are also easy to do.

Fine dining also abounds in Edgewater – including an array of small, family owned establishments such as the Old Stein Inn that serves authentic German food, the Edgewater Restaurant which is known for its crab soup and crab cakes, and the Broadneck Grill and Cantina.

In addition to its attractive options in terms of residential and employment, Edgewater also has a lot to offer in terms of education for its younger residents. The community is served via the Anne Arundel County Public School system, which includes the Central Elementary, Edgewater Elementary, and Mayo Elementary schools, as well as the Central Middle, South River High School, the Center of Applied Technology South, and the Central Special School.

The average home value in the Edgewater area is in the $330,000 range – which tends to be just slightly higher than that of the state of Maryland overall. Median gross rent rates (as of 2013) were in the range of $1,700 per month.

Edgewater is a wonderful place to call home – convenient and cozy, yet close enough to a variety of activity it is just a short drive away from a family home.
