Severn, Maryland, is located in the northwestern area of Anne Arundel County, and it is partially bordered by the Severn River. Close to the Chesapeake Bay, water lovers can take in the views and the beach close to home.
This beautiful community is also close enough to the “big city” of Baltimore so that residents can get a taste of the large sports and entertainment venues, as well as the larger corporate employers.
Likewise, Washington, D.C. is also easily accessible either via interstate or by train. Just a little farther out, the ocean is just two hours east, and skiing is just two hours west – which could be considered the “best of both worlds” for some.
More directly in Severn you will also find all that you need in terms of schools – elementary, middle, and high (both public and private), shopping, churches, and restaurants. Residents can regularly enjoy the local flavor of Casa Della Nonna, Arturo’s Trattoria, or Gianni’s Pizza for Italian, or if in the mood for bar-b-q, Uncle B’s is another fine favorite in town. For good old fashioned American fare, there is the Oak Grove Tavern.
According to city-data.com, the median home values in Severn have risen substantially since the year 2000, when at that time, the average home was approximately $155,800, and in 2013, they had risen to an average of $321,745. This is also substantially above the average median home value for the state of Maryland overall, which in 2013 was $280,200.
