What Homeowners Can Deduct on Taxes for 2019

While Still Staying Within Safe Social Distancing Requirements

When making any type of big-ticket purchase, most people don’t feel comfortable moving forward sight unseen. This is particularly the case with buying personal and / or investment real estate.

Unfortunately, though, the Coronavirus has changed many aspects of how we work and live. Stay-at-home orders and social distancing have made it difficult at best to leave our current residence, even for necessary supplies like food and medicine.

Good News For Home Buyers

But, if you’re still considering the purchase of a new home, the good news is that the transaction can be done, even factoring in the list of COVID-related hurdles. The home buying proccess will, however, look a bit different than it did just a few short months ago.

In fact, according to the Washington Post, “If you find a home that seems right for you, you have job stability and you can get financing at historically low rates, buying a home might be a wise choice and the right thing to do – even now. The same story is true for someone who wants to buy an investment property.”

Steps To Take

One of the first steps to take is narrowing down your options online. Even before the COVID-19 pandemic, the power of the Internet made it easy to “shop” from your computer, or even from a smart phone, based on your desired location and budget, as well as other requirements like square footage and amenities.

After you have come up with your short list, you will want to make arrangements to view the property in person. These days, Open Houses are non-existent. Likewise, many sellers are hesitant about allowing people into their homes.

But, provided you get the green light, it is important that you comply with CDC (Centers for Disease Control) guidelines. These include using hand sanitizer upon entering the home, and remaining at least 6 feet away from others in the structure. In addition, the use of protective equipment, such as masks, gloves, and booties may be required.

Find A Real Estate Team

Working with an experienced real estate team can help to ensure that the necessary safety precautions are taken, as well as that all of the proper paperwork is in place if you choose to make an offer on the property.
